Vlogger, Meir Kay decided to conduct a social experiment to see what children aged between 4 to 6 would do if they were given $1, would they spend it on ice cream or give it to a homeless man? All the children’s reactions certainly amused him but it was the last child that gave him a surprise!
Parenting is certainly not a walk in the park.
Parents have a responsibility to instill good values in their children and to teach them about kindness and empathy to others
According to Bruce D. Perry, M.D., Ph.D., a senior fellow at the Child Trauma Academy in Houston, and the co-author of Born for Love: Why Empathy Is Essential—and Endangered, “Empathy is probably the greatest single gift of our species.”
“We wouldn’t have been able to survive without creating relationships and groups that could function together.”
Empathy is about understanding others by putting ourselves in their situations
“It’s how we develop gratitude, hope, and compassion—which is the ability to act on your empathy,” says Christine Carter, Ph.D., a sociologist and happiness expert at the Greater Good Science Center at the University of California, Berkeley.
Curious about how children would do if they were given money when an ice-cream truck is located directly opposite a homeless man.
In the video experiment, an ice-cream truck is strategically parked directly opposite a man disguised as a homeless man with a sign ‘I need money’
Each child was given $1 before the experiment by their parents before their parents watched them from a distance to see how their children would react.
In the video, we can see how each child hesitated for a moment before making their final decision.
However, there is a slight plot twist at the end of the video!
