A Russian man claimed he spent three years in prison for a crime committed by his twin brother.
This was because the police mistakenly assumed he was his twin brother. What was even more shocking was that he himself did not know that he had a twin brother!
Andrey Chistyakov, 40, said he was 18 when he was arrested and imprisoned. He claimed he was arrested after he left his home in Sokol, in the western region of Vologda Russia, to join the army.

Chistyakov, who grew up in an orphanage, said; “They were supposed to arrest another man, who looked like me. I’m sure about it, after I saw his photo. “
After being released from prison, Chistyakov managed to get in touch with his biological family and eventually answered his own question regarding his twin brother.
His sister told him that he disappeared when the family moved out. She confirmed that he had a twin brother.
Chistiakov, who once aspired to become a teacher and starting a family, said his life had been destroyed by his twin whom he had never thought of meeting.
He said he could not rent a house right now because of his past record and appealed for help from the regional prosecutor’s office to clear his name.
