A lady shared on the social media that she’d noticed her dog would stare outside her apartment window every day. The owner got curious, so she investigated and finally realized her dog was actually looking at—a cat.

Dogs and cats are practically synonymous with an argument, but her dog wasn’t barking or growling at the cat—on the contrary, he looked lovestruck. Their neighbor next door had a cat who would sit up on the windowsill, and her dog loved to look at it.

It was adorable, and it went on for six months.

Then one day, the occupant in the apartment across the street got some houseplants.

All of a sudden, the windowsill was completely occupied, and the cat would no longer sit there.

The dog stared out the window the next day in dismay at not seeing his cat friend, and then returned again later. Still no cat. He checked a third time—nothing.

The poor dog kept this up, three times a day, again and again, and his owner felt she had to say something.

So she taped up a big, handwritten sign in the window, hoping the neighbors would get the message.

Dear Neighbor—

This is going to seem ridiculous, but I thought you should know that my dog (who lives next door with me) is madly in love with your cat…and has been for probably 6 months! Three times a day, he puts his paws on our railing to look at him/her in your windowsill. Now that you have potted plants there, he is heartbroken….but he keeps looking for your cat every time. Maybe your plants could switch to a different window??!

From, Your neighbor & her adoring dog!

And it worked! Not long after, the neighbor had a sign up in the window as a reply—and all the potted plants had been moved.

And the dog could see the cat that it secretly admires again. Who says animals don’t love? Please share this cute story with your friends if you like it.
