When I am old
After decades of hard work
With what I have seen and experienced, I will be more open
I have fought and competed
I have both gained and lost
I have what I should have
I won’t be obsessed with things that I don’t have
I have got used to everything
When I am old, I will choose to smile
The first thing I will do every morning is to look at myself in the mirror
I will smile at him, and he will smile at me
Then, I will stay happy in the rest of the day
When I am old, I will choose to change
It isn’t to change others, but myself
To change my attitude, lifestyle, and eating habits
When I am old, I will choose to be calm
I will eat my meals slowly, and do things one step at a time
Nothing can be done in one go, everything has a process
I don’t want to be always on the run anymore
Instead, I will take things easy at my pace
When I am old, I won’t chase after fame or money
The quality of life depends on my own attitude
Behind delicious food and exquisite wines lurk insincerity and deceit
It is better to enjoy long conversations with some close friends over coffee
When I am old, I will choose to be healthy
There is a saying: When you have a successful career, you should take care of your body; when you don’t have a successful career, you should take care of your body even more
When I am old, I will choose to travel
To enjoy the beauties of nature, and live the rest of my life in peace
To compensate for what I have missed earlier
To find back myself whom I once have lost
When I am old, I will choose to rest
At that age, I am not obliged to contribute to the society anymore
I won’t worry about my children and grandchildren, making money, or leaving behind an inheritance
When I am old, I will choose to be independent
I won’t put too much emphasis on the importance of family ties
I won’t create too many family relationships
Instead, I will keep a distance with my children
As the old adage goes, no children will take care of their sick parents over a long period of time
Thus, I should be independent and prepared to take care of myself at critical time
When I am old, I will choose to say less “Yes” and more “No”
I will avoid stressful things
I will avoid getting myself involved in regular works

When I am old, I will choose to treat myself and people around me well
I will treat myself well because my remaining life is short
I will treat others well because we might not cross paths again in our next lives
Let us share this to our friends!
When we understand these, we should see things differently and live a happier life!
