Conjoined twins from India finally find love after a long, lonely time of solitude

These conjoined twins from India were living a lonely life until they both found that special someone—someone whom they both love.

“Every Jack must have his Jill” and “love is blind” as the sayings go. These proverbs reassure us that everyone should be able to find their predestined one. It’s usually true that every person eventually finds love, although love is not always waiting where one would expect it to be.

But, does this proverb still hold true for conjoined twins? If yes, would both twins fall in love with the same person, or would they love different people?

These are perfectly valid questions as such problems are not purely academic. Life writes the best stories, and the story of lonely Ganga and Jamuna, is one of them.

They were born in Kolkata, India, in a poor family as conjoined twins

They share the same stomach but have separate hearts, kidneys, and livers. Their parents didn’t want to look after them and left them in their adolescence. Without any education, the twins joined a traveling circus to make a living.

The twins are called the ‘Spider Sisters’ and each has a chest and a separate set of arms, but their bodies are fused at the abdomen and waist; thus, they share one pair of legs

With such an appearance, one could think that finding love would have its challenges for these two. But as Forrest Gump said, “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.” The twin sisters have found the sweetest box of chocolates there is: true love.

Their chosen one is Jasimuddin Ahmad, and he is a school teacher who worked part-time as a sound engineer in the same circus as the twins. Apparently, it was love at first sight.

“When we met Jasimuddin, we both felt this was a man who would truly love us. And he does—straight from the heart,” said Ganga.

Ahmad enjoys spending time with Ganga and Jamuna

“Now, every night I sit with them. We share a meal on the terrace and talk about our lives. I sit with them in the evening breeze and we share our joys and our sorrows,” said Ahmad. “I try to give them as much joy and love as I possibly can. I try to bring them closer, so they understand how much I love them.”

Their relationship is based on mutual interests and a deep connection. They love to listen to music and talk until 4 a.m. The twins admire Ahmad’s personality. “The best thing about him is that he has a great sense of humor. Also, he is a kind man. We call him Mr. India,” Ganga said.

Although marriage is not possible, as the society wouldn’t accept it, they live happy lives and are a perfect example that love finds its way to everyone.

In Jamuna’s words: “We have been very happy since he came into our lives. We have suffered in the past, but we don’t want to suffer anymore. We really hope to spend the rest of our lives with him.”
