There are many artists in the world that are willing to explore on peculiar subjects in the name of art. To them, every subject can be a compelling and creative art experiment, even if it means it can brings harm to the artist. Like this 51-year-old British artist, Nick Veasey who spent the last 20 years to harmful x-rays just for his latest collection of art.
His latest collection of work entitled ‘X-ray Voyeurism’ is the result of 20 years of exposing himself to radiation where he individually X-rayed each subject before compiling the images together in post production
Some of the images revealed surprising objects that each individual hid in the layers of their clothes and bags. One of the images showed that the person is carrying drug paraphernalia in his pocket.
Nick said, “We live in a world obsessed with image. What we look like, what our clothes look like, houses, cars…”
He added further, “I like to counter this obsession with superficial appearance by using x-rays to strip back the layers and show what it is like under the surface”
According to Nick, he would like to challenge the superficial appearance that people put on when they are in public places by revealing what they truly are ‘inside’
“To mix my metaphors, we all know we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, that beauty is more than skin deep. By revealing the inside, the quintessential element of my art speculates upon what the manufactured and natural world really consists of”
No secrets when you get x-rayed.

Nick never thought to become an artist but as his work evolves and his love of X-ray images grows, he decided to compiled his artworks into an art collection.
