Cooking for babies can be a chore especially for new parents. Not only will they have to cook for themselves but they will also need to cook different meals for their child and feed it to them. Due to the fact babies have yet to grow any teeth, their diet should consist of soft foods which would not require any chewing.

Parents would need to spend a significant amount of time on their baby’s dish even if it is in a smaller portion. Here’s a super simple tip that will cut down the time needed to cook for the family and a baby. It is hassle-free and efficient!

According to her, this procedure saves a lot of time and you can adjust the recipe based on your personal preferences. It is a 2-in-1 way to make porridge for the baby and cook rice for the family at the same time. Parents can adjust the texture of the porridge depending on how old their baby is.

Here are the ingredients needed for the porridge (The base ingredient is plain rice)

INGREDIENTS
– Anchovies / chicken
– Vegetables according to preference
– 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil

PROCEDURE
This is a sure-fire way of cooking porridge and rice in the same pot at the same time

1 PREPARE EQUIPMENT

Before you begin, you will need to have your equipment ready. You will need a rice cooker and a small bowl or cup (It has to be able to resist high temperatures as it will be placed inside the rice cooker)

1 – Prepare a rice cooker and a bowl/cup

2. MEASURE THE RICE

One portion of rice can be divided into 3 parts which consists of 1 part rice to 2 parts water. If you prefer the porridge to be softer you will need to add more water to the rice.

2 – Wash the rice and place 1/3 of it in the cup

3. ADD WATER

The next step is to add the water to the rice and place the cup at the center of the rice cooker

3 – Add water and place cup in the middle of the rice cooker

 

4. ADD THE SEASONING

After that you will need to add your desired ingredients to make the porridge, into the cup at the center. You can choose to add chicken, vegetables, fish or anything else according to your taste.

Then you will need to add about a teaspoon of vegetable oil to the porridge mixture in order to soften the porridge. If vegetable oil is not available to you, you can use olive oil or sunflower oil as a substitute.

4 – Add the ingredients for the porridge into the cup

When all the rice, water and ingredients are placed in the rice cooker, it can be set to cook as usual.

6. MIX PORRIDGE

When the rice cooker has done it’s job and the rice has been prepared, your two dishes are ready. You can use a spoon to mix the porridge slightly so it will soften.
