One day, Alyssa Hacker and her 18-month-old son, Owen, were shopping for groceries at Target. Owen is a very friendly boy and he loves telling everyone he sees ‘hi’ and ‘bye’ so Alyssa was not surprised when he suddenly yelled ‘Hi’ to an old man while playing with three stuffed dinosaurs in the cart. But she never thought that Owen’s simple greeting would leave her in tears.

Alyssa recalls that they were trying to pick only one out of the three stuffed dinosaurs that Owen had grabbed at the toy aisle when Owen suddenly yelled ‘Hi’ to an old gentleman who standing nearby.

The old man turned around and replied: “Hey, sweet boy.” He then approached Owen and started to play with Owen.

Alyssa was a little hesitant when the old man was being too close to her toddler when the man suddenly pulled out $20 note from his wallet and put it in the pocket of Owen’s shirt. As if his action was not surprised enough, the man then continued to say something that moved Alyssa’s heart.

He said: “I just lost my 2-year-old grandson last week. You take this money and buy this boy all three dinosaurs”

The old man then rubbed Owen’s back, wiped his tears off his cheek and walked away.

Alyssa did use the $20 he gave to buy all three of the stuffed dinosaurs. “These three stuffed dinosaurs have more meaning than I ever thought a stuffed animal from Target could have,” she said.

“We will hold on to these memories forever!”

She felt that the sweet encounter was a great reminder to all so she posted about the touching incident on her Facebook to which the post had quickly gone viral

“Everyone can use a reminder that there are still good people in this crazy, mixed-up world,” she said.
