A group of four elderly women has taken the United Kingdom by storm when they film themselves dancing raunchy moves to hits including ‘Low’ by Flo Rida and Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ on street corners and farmers’ markets.
With canes and curlers still in their hair, these grandmas do not let their flower-printed skirts get in their way from busting out dance moves. They also spot comically large-framed glasses and floral-printed booties to match with their skirts. It is no wonder that many people get captivated by them, the coolest grandmas in the town!
However, these grandmas are not really in their golden age after all. In fact, all four of the women are between 33 and 51 and they are all part of the Fizzog Productions’ dance group.
The group members are; Sue Hawkins, 42, Jackie Fellows, 51, Deb Nicholls, 42, and Emma Rollason, 33
Let us watch at how these grannies dance:
They quickly rose to fame when their first video went viral on social media which made their group, ‘Dancing Grannies’ became a local icon
“We just cannot believe the reaction we’ve had to the video,” said Hawkins, who is also the production company director.
“We have had a huge response from people in India who loved the Bhangra dancing and from people in Japan who enjoyed our version of Gangnam.”
These four women have been dancing together for 14 years since in college where all of them studies musical theatre.
Apparently, the grannies characters are based on the real people they met in visits to nursing homes. “We developed the characters after visiting nursing homes in the Black Country, so these funny characters are based on some of the lovely people we met.”
Nevertheless, these grandmas are surely the coolest grannies in town and no one can doubt it!
