The 2018 Jeju World Taekwondo Hanmadang saw thousands of Taekwondo practitioners around the globe gathered in the world’s largest Taekwondo festival.
The Jeju World Taekwondo Hanmadang was held at Jeju, South Korea for four days from July 28 until July 31.
Said to be the biggest participation in taekwondo festival in the world, the taekwondo festival was aimed to build solid relationships between Taekwondo practitioners as well as to revitalize the famous Korean martial arts.
One of the most anticipated events in the Taekwondo festival was the spectacular opening ceremony by Kukkiwon Taekwondo demonstration team
This team consists of selected Taekwondo art members who are highly skilled and talented in Taekwondo
Their famous reputation has been known in many countries around the world. Established in 1974, the team has toured around the world to more than 100 countries to promote and spread Taekwondo and Korean culture.
Kukkiwon Taekwondo demonstration team pride themselves on mastering Taekwondo’s most difficult techniques. For example, Gyeokpa (techniques of breaking hard objects like a wooden plank with hands or feet)
Other techniques include the 540 kick which involves a turning kick at 540 degrees rotation, multiple side kick and reflex kick which sees one to run up a wall before pushing the wall with the feet to generate a higher leap
Their performance was definitely the highlight of the Taekwondo festival
The Kukkiwon Taekwondo demonstration team had performed a flawless demonstration of Taekwondo’s movements that require the highest degree of technicality
Various Taekwondo techniques and skills were performed during the opening ceremony.
Looking at their performance, it is not a surprise that the Kukkiwon Taekwondo demonstration team is highly respected in the martial arts industry!
