Extremely talented magician Eric Chien from Taiwan has captivated his audience and the board of juries at the 27th World Championships organized by the International Federation of Magic Societies in Busan, Korea this year.
His highly entertaining performance won him first place in the Grand Prix for the close up category.
Eric’s props are not something you would call over the top. He used only a number of cards, coins and a ribbon as part of his main act. In fact, the whole setup was quite simple, but extremely entertaining and very well done.
“If you look closely you can spot him cheating by dedicating years of his life to perfecting his art.”, one viewer commented online.
From the moment he began, he had the audience’s full attention.
And with each act, the crowd was blown away! He changed the colors of the cards, turned cards into coins and even changed the color of his vest! It was unique and refreshing.
The white ribbon played an important part in his performance.
Eric didn’t just use his hands to entertain the audience, he also used his face. With every trick he does, he would smile or make faces that tickled the crowd’s heart. Through his entertaining facial expressions, Eric presented his story telling in a delightful way.

This triennial world championships was not something that Eric could easily breeze through. It is world famous and highly competitive. In order to win, he had to beat hundreds of expert magicians from all over the world.
Simple but entertaining magic tricks make the best performance.
