Gordon Ramsay gives his reason for not letting his children fly first class

Gordon Ramsay is one of the most celebrated chefs in the world with a net worth of $60 million but that does not mean his children get to fly on a private jet.

Apparently, the world-renowned chef only pays for first class tickets for him and his wife while his children sit in economy.

When asked for his reason for not letting his children fly first class, Ramsay replied, “They haven’t worked anywhere near hard enough to afford that.”

The chef revealed his reasons why he would not let his children fly first class with him.

“I have got to keep it real with the kids,” he said. “And also I think just getting kids at the age of five, six and seven, used to first class and those big seats, they do not need the space, they get entertainment on their iPads,” he told The Mirror.

“So I like to think about what you can do with the money when you land, rather than paying out thousands of dollars for eight, nine ten-year-olds to sit in first class,” he continued.

“I am not embarrassed. It is my wife [Tana] and I’s choice to discipline them and to keep them real,” he explained.

Ramsay who is famous for his no-nonsense attitude in the kitchen seems to be applying the same attitude when it comes to raising his children.

“They have a completely different life than I did growing up. I worked my arse off to get out of the s*** mess that I grew up in and they’re grateful, they’re not spoilt,” he told The Telegraph.

He also revealed that his children will not inherit his million-dollar business and added that he will only help pay 25 percent of the deposit on their first apartment.

“It’s definitely not going to them, and that’s not in a mean way; it’s to not spoil them,” he said. “The only thing I’ve agreed with Tana is they get a 25 percent deposit on a flat, but not the whole flat.

According to Ramsay, he tried his best to instill work ethic when they get to spend time together.

“I need to protect them and respect the restaurant and team in my restaurant. I made them as normal as possible… They’ve all got jobs, they’ve all taken care of animals, they’ve all got housework,” he said.

Ramsay and his wife, Tana, have four children; Megan Jane, 21, twins Holly Anna and Jack Scott, 19, and Matilda, 17. Last month, the couple revealed that they are expecting their fifth child.
