We all have a natural responsibility to care for our parents in their old age as they cared for us as we were growing up. This man is fulfilling his duty while juggling a hectic work schedule.
52-year-old Cai Yujun from Sichuan has been taking care of his 92-year-old mother who is suffering from dementia. Her condition has been getting worse and it’s no longer safe to leave her alone. Her condition requires constant vigilance which is tough because Yujun and his wife both have hectic work schedules.
Yujun and his wife work long hours in order to provide for their family and household.

He decided that the best course of action would be to bring his mother along to his job. Yujun works as a transporter and that requires him to constantly be on the move.
He decided to make some modifications to his motorcycle to accommodate his mother and widened the back seat with wooden planks. On top of that, he also added wooden pedals so his mother can rest her feet.
He even made seat belts out of hemp and secured his mother firmly to himself to ensure she would not fall off.

He takes his mother wherever he goes. Yujun says he does not deliver goods all day and when it is a relatively slow day, he would entertain his mother by the roadside. She has made friends along the way and Yujun said it’s a good thing that she’s out getting fresh air instead of being cooped up at home.
Yujun has been caring for his mother for years but has never found it a hassle.

He stated emotionally, “Mom dedicated her life to the family so it’s only natural to be responsible and take care of her for as long as she’s around, no matter how tough it gets.”
