It is a symbol of love that lasts a lifetime. In 2018, a 70-year-old man was seen by the owner of a pizza shop nearby. Sitting by the sea and holding on to a framed photo of his beloved wife, who passed in 2011. This is a story of everlasting love.
The owner of an Italian pizza shop, Giorgio Moffa, 54, was wondering about the elderly man who sat by the sea every day to watch the sunset with a picture of his wife. He noticed that there are times when the man would bow his head and cry when he could no longer control his pain. The emotional scene touched the heart of the pizza shop owner, and upon posting photos of the elderly man on his Facebook page, the heartwarming photos instantly went viral.

“A few days ago, I didn’t know this splendid person.” Moffa wrote on Facebook. “I only know that his was certainly a great love. I saw him cry, and I believe that men like this aren’t born anymore.”
Moffa learned that the man was 70-year-old Giuseppe Giordano, who lost his wife, Ida, to cancer in 2011. He was 16 years old when he met Ida in 1969, who was then 17 years old. Within the year that they met, they married. Ida became pregnant when she was 20. Years passed, and they had 2 more children. They stayed in love for 50 years until Ida passed.

Moffa also discovered that the seaside near his pizza shop was the place the couple frequently visited. Ida loved the ocean scenery very much, and now that she has passed, Giuseppe brings her photo with him to watch the sunset every day. “I think she must miss this ocean scenery very much,” Giuseppe told Moffa. “I take Ida’s photo with me because then I will feel that she is still with me, and I will not be so alone. Ida is everything to me. For our generation, love is all.” Since her passing, Giuseppe ensures that he visits the seaside in Gaeta, Italy, with her photo in hand to honor her memory.
Moffa told Giuseppe, “A big hug, dear friend, you are a great man.”

Yes, true love does exist. Although each person’s experiences in love differ, one can share their own story of everlasting love, and each is unique from the other. In your lifetime, cherish all the good memories with someone special. In every obstacle you experience, do not give up. When a loved one passes, it is normal to grieve. Although, do not dwell on their ‘death’. Celebrate how they lived and keep the memories.
