30-year-old Shantel Carrillo from San Diego was excited to share ultrasound photos of her unborn child on social media. She was 5 months pregnant at the time with her second baby. Messages started pouring in soon after she shared the photos online. Most of them posted messages of ‘congratulations’. However, other messages caught Shantel’s attention. Some of her followers claimed that there was a figure of an angel kissing her unborn child. When she checked the photos again, what she saw took her breath away.
“Right when I posted it, like 30 seconds later, someone’s like, ‘There’s an angel kissing your baby!’” told NBC San Diego. “It was honestly like a punch in the chest, how awesome it was to see that. It took my breath away, it really did.”
When Shantel looked closer at the ultrasound photo that netizens claimed they saw an angel, she noticed that it was her late father who was in the picture, not an angel. She immediately grabbed an old photo of her father carrying her first child and compared it to the ultrasound photo. What she saw amazed her. “It’s beautiful to watch and a great story to share,” said Shantel.
Shantel agreed that the resemblance was astonishing. The ultrasound photo showed that her father and unborn baby have the same nose, small double chin, and small chubby cheeks. In the photo with her first baby, her father wore a hat which was also clear in the ultrasound photo.
Showing the ultrasound, Shantel said: “There’s the nose, and there’s his little cheek. There’s the little ball of his chin – which my dad was known for, his very distinctive chin.”
Shantel’s daughter, Myree, agreed, saying: “I was shocked! I was like, ‘Wow.’ It looked like my grandpa. I kind of think it is him.”
Speaking to ABC10, Shantel added: “My dad wore a hat like all the time. It looks like the bill of his hat and his lips are just touching hers so perfectly.”
In 2016, Shantel’s father, Chuck, suddenly passed away due to a heart attack at the age of 54. However, Shantel believes that he still looks after the family in spirit. She does not doubt that the figure in the photo was her father since he likes attention very much. Even when he is gone, he still takes care of Shantel and her unborn child, which is a very wonderful thing, according to her. Additionally, she can’t imagine it any other way.
When the news station asked if she really believes it was her father kissing her unborn baby, she said: “I can’t really think of it any other way. If you knew my dad, he loved to be the center of attention. It makes me feel like he’s watching over my new daughter. It’s just a beautiful thing. It could be him just saying, ‘Hey, I’m here, and it’s all good’, or it could be that the placenta just looks like my dad, which is awesome, too.”
Shantel strongly believes that the ‘angel’ in the ultrasound photo is really her late father. He would always be looking after the welfare of his family, although he has passed away. Additionally, the baby was born days before her father’s birthday which gives her the strong impression that it really was her father in the photo with her unborn child.
