Fronky the Bull Mastiff has a daily ritual. He waits every morning at the door for his best friend to arrive. Patiently, he waits at the front door until his mommy lets him go outside. In the front yard, he sits and waits until his best friend arrives… a mailwoman named Shaun!
Fronky and Shaun have been best friends since he was a seven-week-old puppy. Seeing Shaun is the best part of Fronky’s day, and the 2 absolutely love and adore each other!
In an interview with The Dodo, Fronky’s mom, Eileen, said, “When she is at her truck, getting all her packages and getting ready to come to our house, you see his tail going so fast, and if she takes too long, he gets impatient.”
180-pound Fronky can easily jump over the front yard fence if he chooses to. However, he is a good boy and stays in the front yard for Shaun. He is very excited for his best friend to arrive for plenty of cuddles and hugs that will make his day.
Eileen revealed that Shaun used to own a chocolate lab, but it died, and Fronky was able to provide the happiness and hugs that Shaun has longed for. “I believe just having this short break with Fronky helps her out and gives her something to look forward to,” Eileen explained.
Shaun and Fronky have undeniably become best friends, and she comes to visit him even during her days off. “Shaun has sort of become a member of our family,” Eileen explained. “She constantly forgets to come by, and we can’t wait to see her every day… And Fronky is completely out of control when he hears her voice.”
Shaun and Fronky’s affection for each other is a bit out of the norm for a Bull Mastiff, according to Hill’s Pets. On their website, it says, “With family members, Bullmastiffs are kind and loving. Their typically calm, easygoing personalities make them ideal for families with well-behaved youngsters. When a stranger enters the scene, the bullmastiff’s laid-back attitude towards family members is likely to alter. These dogs are wary of persons who are not members of their family.”
“I appreciate that it’s a mutual love,” Eileen remarked of Fronky and Shaun’s relationship. “So they’re both looking forward to it.”
